Barbecued Country Ribs

A tasty barbecued pork rib recipe cooked slow cooker style with chilli, mustard, cayenne pepper, paprika and tomato sauce.


3 pound/ 1.4 kg pork loin ribs
½ cup minced onion
1 tbs brown sugar
1 ½ tsp paprika
½ tsp chilli powder
½ tsp dry mustard
½ tsp salt
1/8 tsp cayenne pepper
½ cup tomato juice
¼ cup ketchup
¼ cup water
2 tbs cider vinegar
1 ½ tbs Worcestershire sauce

Brown ribs on both sides in fry pan. Pour off fat. Meanwhile prepare sauce. Blend onion, brown sugar, and dry seasonings in a saucepan. Add tomato juice, ketchup, water, vinegar, and Worcestershire sauce; mix. Bring to boiling, cover and simmer about 10 minutes.
Put browned ribs into a large slow cooker. Pour hot sauce over ribs.
Cover and cook on Low 8-10 hours.
