Texas-Style Barbecued Chicken

A Texas style barbecued chicken recipe. Chicken legs cooked slowly in a mixture of spices and smoke flavoured barbecue sauce.



Ingredients:

3- 3 ½ pounds/ 1.4 - 1.6 kg chicken legs
½ cup flour
1 tsp salt
½ tsp pepper
2 tbs vegetable shortening
½ tsp paprika
¼ tsp celery seed
1 ½ cups smoke flavoured barbecue sauce

Method:
Coat chicken with a mixture of flour, salt and pepper. Brown chicken on all sides in shortening in a large skillet. Put browned chicken legs into a slow cooker. Sprinkle with paprika and celery seed. Add barbecue sauce.
Cover and cook on Low 8-10 hours.

Serves about 6
