Poached Pears in Port

Poached pears in port cooked in a slow cooker with sugar, port wine, lemon peel and pistachio nuts,


6 ripe pears, pared
2 cups port wine
2 cups sugar
4 thin strips lemon peel
Pistachio nuts

Arrange pears upright in slow cooker
Combine win, sugar and lemon peel; pour over pears.
Cover and cook on High 2 - 4 hours; turn pears occasionally and baste with wine sauce. Serve warm or chilled; sprinkle with pistachio nuts.
Serves 6
